Derby Dozen List # 4 - Feb. 23 rd

Ok,

With time to digest the weekends racing action, one word comes to mind - Overrated !! I can hear the Fenway Faithful chanting right now ... Except I'm talking about Dunkirk. Steve Haskins again nailed it. Everyone was in awe of his debut - till they saw the time - 1:25 for 7 furlongs. Ouch - a snails time.

So Thursday - Dunkirk was floated 8 wide in the first turn, gained position around the far turn, and drew away down the lane. I wasn't impressed. He may grow up and be a prime Travers prospect by summer , but he will go into the Derby will THREE lifetime races - He has No Chance in the Derby !! You heard it hear first. I hope he makes it to the gate just to take money.

Now for List #4 -

1. Old Fashioned - keeps moving forward, can't wait for next time...
2. Mr Hot Stuff - unleashed electrifying late run last time, in with both hands Saturday..
3. Pioneer ofthe Nile - So Cal's so-called best
4. Freisen Fire - keeps on truckin, uses long FG stretch to his advantage..
5. Capt. Candyman Can - love those Candy Rides
6. Hello Broadway - don't like he's going to Tampa, but its just a prep..
7. Giant Oak - should move up 10 lengths next out ...
8. Haynesfield - untested and unchallenged , Gotham sets up great..
9. I Want Revenge - going to Aqueduct for dirt , back on the list, tops strong Gotham..
10. Imperial Counsel - another Gotham bound colt, impressed with his comeback..
11. Mr Fantasy - never heard Brent sing it live, oh the horse - pointed to Gotham...
12. Beethoven - is developing well for Mr Ward, might need two turns for best...

See how that grabs ya - till next time ..

Buh - Bye
