A memorable Travers Day but not for the reasons we were hoping for as American Pharoah ran hard every step of the way but was defeated by Keen Ice, a horse a gave no chance and publicly stated that. After a night sleep, I'm thinking that 15,000 people "gallop" the Champ had Friday may have gotten his blood pumping too much as Victor has trouble shutting him down after the work, then AP comes back Saturday kinda confused saying "didn't I race yesterday?" and had slightly less energy. This is just an observation and a thought - but mentally and physically he might have left it on the track as they say Friday morning.

The day was highlighted by a horse I didn't select - Runhappy. Maria Borell trains this rocket for Mattress Mac and he simply ran a hole in the wind setting a stakes record of 1:20 and change. Monster performance for a very small barn who's won all 4 starts in 2015. Saratoga is Maria's home track as she's a Syracuse native. Owners should be sending her horses by the truckload. She lets the horse be a horse. She brought Runhappy to a local farm to turn him out in the paddock and let him run and roll on a daily basis while she was stabled in Saratoga. Unheard of, yet a wonderful act of horsemanship and it paid off. Congratulations Maria.

I have all 11 from Saratoga today. I had 4 Top Pick Winners in a row yesterday so we cashed a few tickets during the marathon day.

Saratoga race 8 - #6 SATURDAY'S CHARM - this David Jacobson trained runner just aired last time, rating behind runners, swinging out and simply destroying that competition. He does step up today facing a few name horses, but should get another great trip, with enough speed to set up his devastating late kick. Down the road.
