2010 Derby Dozen - list #1

Well -

Its time already to look forward to the 2010 Classics. I put my list up Saturday night. I'd still love to get a future wager on my top choice who might be out there around 75/1.

Every year while watching baby races, I look for 'the stride'. I saw 'the stride' almost ten years ago to the day when Fusaichi Pegasus broke his maiden in mid - December as an easy winner. His stride was amazing - head held high even in full flight. I made a nice future wager and Fu Peg won the the 2000 Kentucky Derby with the same ease he won that maiden race.

Well I saw the stride again for the first time since Fu Peg. I joined the race in progress with a furlong to go - and watched in awe as Afleet Express closed with a rush to win going away. Then I saw the replay. He also fell on his face coming out of the gate and lost 8 lengths right then. This is a very serious race horse folks. I am anxiously awaiting his return to the races in Gulfstream. You've been warned.

Here is list #1 -

1. Afleet Express - Jimmy Jerkins trains this freight train ....

2. Buddy's Saint - Bruce Levine took this proven dirt router to Gulfstream to prep ...

3. Lookin at Lucky - a nice colt who won't get 10 furlongs on May 1, 2010 ....

4. Jackson Bend - Mr Zito takes over this extremely talented colt ....

5. Super Saver - Phipps bred colt trained by the resurgent Todd Pletcher ...

6. American Lion - big , long striding Tiznow colt for Mr Harty ....

7. Discreetly Mine - gifted Mineshaft colt for Mr Hough .....

8. Dublin - Afleet Alex colt main hope for Mr Lucas ....

9. Pulsion - Pulpit colt for the Cobra Venom Biancone ...

10. Sidney's Candy - Candy Ride colt broke track record in debut ....

11. Eightyfiveinafifty - talented colt on comeback trail ....

12. Dave in Dixie - another track record breaker in his debut for Mr Sadler ....

13. Connemara - 1/2 to Lion Heart was spectacular maiden winner ....

14. William's Kitten - The Ramsey's best hope and best Kitten's Joy colt ....

I'm pretty sure nobody will know every horse on my list - but write them down , cause you will!!

Until sometime in January - the very best of luck !
