OK,
After some time with no prep action, we had a few Derby preps last weekend where my boy Oxbow blew away his field winning by 11 lengths. D Wayne Lucas came right back Monday as Will Take Charge, a gorgeous looking son of Unbridled's Song - Take Charge Lady, who showed grit and gameness racing 5-6 wide around the first turn, 4 wide the entire backstretch, and out dueled Texas Bling to score at Oaklawn.
There are a few preps this weekend too as The Holy Bull has a very good field assembled for Saturday at Gulfstream with the returns of Frac Daddy, Dewey Square, Bern Identity, and the most over-rated horse on the planet currently - Shanghai Bobby. Gulfstream also has a few 9 furlong allowance races and will showcase Bold Dance, Orb and Sky Captain who are try to get to the next level.
Well here we go - ZJ's Derby Dozen #3 ~
1. NORMANDY INVASION - remains on top, is back to work for Chad Brown and has his eyes on a return, possibly in the Risen Star at the Fair Grounds.
2. FRAC DADDY - returns Saturday after his best work of the new year in which he finished very strong and galloped out very very well. He has grown up some and am looking forward to his return.
3. VIOLENCE - after his sale fell through last week, he finally got back to work on Sunday posting his first breeze of the new year.
4. BOLD DANCE - he is the one I'm looking forward to seeing most on Saturday, trying a 9 furlong allowance after breaking his maiden on turf last out. This half brother to HOY Saint Liam should be OK on if switched to dirt.
5. REVOLUTIONARY - (new) - jumps in toward the top of the list after scorching his maiden breaker at Aqueduct. He lost to some very good horses and when finally stretched to preferred two turns, he ran a hole in the wind. By champion War Pass out of Alabama winner Runup the Colors . the colt will show his stuff in top class for sure.
6. UNCAPTURED - son of Lion Hearted has yet to post a workout since fall.
7. OVERANALYZE - returned with a slow workout Sunday as his 2nd recorded breeze since the Remsem.
8. OXBOW - my eyes were correct posting this colt on my list back in November. He returned to dirt and got two turns last Saturday and exploded to victory. He relaxed comfortably and galloped out strongly. Could be the real deal.
9. FURY KAPCORI - is working like a wild horse for his return to the races.
10. DEWEY SQUARE - makes his seasonal debut Saturday in the Holy Bull, training very well.
11. DELHOMME - had his 1st recorded work of the season Sunday.
12. FLASHBACK - (new) - Might be Bafferts best 3 year old, was a dynamite maiden breaker in December. He has 3 big works in January with the last two 46.60 and 58.60.
Added to the Bullpen are Omega Code, Will Take Charge, & Bern Identity.
Look for some changes or updates new week!
