Yep,
I said it. New York State discriminates against the horse industry and horse players. We are governed by law that states there is no horse racing or horse wagering on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.
What year do we live in? I'll tell ya that too, the Dark Ages. I can drive 3 miles to the Saratoga Casino and bet all the nickels I can carry on their slot machines. I can also bet all I want on the NYS Lottery, but wager on horses - nope.
I was made aware that today was Palm Sunday in the check out line at the grocery store. The lady in front of me, in her 50's, was wearing a Gold Cross earring .... IN HER NOSE! Shocking to say the least, but not as shocking as the archaic racing laws in NYS.
New York State needs to step out of the dark ages and upgrade their racing laws. We have time to set up a Gaming Commission because the new racinos are rolling in dough and they (NYS) is looking for ways to steal even more tax money. How about letting us gamble on horses too, I just might have had the $200 winner of the Louisiana Derby today and would have needed to go to the tax window.
The Louisiana Derby was today? Really? Who in NY would have known?
SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE is NOT a new concept!

My thoughts exactly!
You're right. I'm a New York Handicapper and it is truly ridiculous this law hasn't been done away yet. Maybe next year
