Jack's Derby Dozen list #7

Well -

I was eagerly anticipating last weekends Derby preps and came away shaking my head watching THREE of those races virtually going wire to wire. The Fountain of Youth and Risen Star were slow paced races. I don't believe in either of those winners. I didn't come away with any Upgrades from the preps, but I did add the FOY winner and also dropped the other Pletcher - Rule. One Pletcher horse is plenty since they really don't have a chance.

So here we go. List #7 -

1. Sidney's Candy - moves into the top spot this week. Coming to NY for the Gotham at 1 1/16 miles over the Inner track of Aqueduct. Will have no issues with dirt or the two turns. His daddy once won a race On the Side of a Road! Thank goodness Candy Ride survived that and retired undefeated and a fast winner at 10 furlongs in the Pacific Classic.

2. Buddy's Saint - has to start over after bouncing off the rail in the FOY.

3. American Lion - got a nice prep and will move forward in next step.

4. Dublin - off slow and put in a very nice run in the Southwest, a great first step.

5. Conveyance - stayed unbeaten winning the Southwest.

6. Lookin at Lucky - don't think he has a chance in hell of winning the Derby.

7. Dave in Dixie - reminds me of Aptitude who ran 2nd in the Derby with a furious late kick.

8. Eskenderaya - NEW- ran away and hid in slow paced FOY.

9. Afleet Express - seems up against it with next start only at 7 furlongs. A win would send him to the Wood Memorial in need of stakes earnings.

10. Stay Put - NEW -put in exceptional run into slow paced Risen Star.

11. Ron the Greek - had no chance closing into slow pace, but will get 10 furlongs.

12. Nextdoorneighbor - not familiar with him, you will be very soon.

13. Uptowncharlybrown - gets blinkers for the Tampa Bay Derby after losing focus and not picking up the bit till the last furlong - improvement expected.


Coming soon - a Kentucky Oaks list .... lol , just kidding , I mean who gives a shit - an Oaks list! Your time would be better spent spell checking your blog (you know who you are) so visitors don't feel like they are reading a bowl of Alpha- Bits !!
