Derby prep races

There are a few Derby preps today in which two of my Derby Dozen are running -

At Tampa Bay Downs today the 11th running of the Pasco Stakes features an ultra impressive maiden winner and #10 on my Derby Dozen list #2 - Uptowncharlybrown. Over the very deep and loose Tampa surface , he debuted for Alan Seewald a smashing winner with a gorgeous stride and a powerful gallop out. He immediately went on my Derby Dozen.

At Golden Gate Fields in Northern California today they run the California Derby which features #13 on my Derby Dozen list #2 - Connemara. This unbeaten half to Lion Heart showed brillance in his first start and guts in his second. He certainly can win but I will be just watching as the short field will provide no value.

Lastly at Santa Anita , they run the 30th running of the San Rafael which has a tiny field of five. Bullet Bob Baffert has the speed of the race in #3 Conveyance who comes of a high figure - fast allowance race. Baffert compared him to his damsire Holy Bull who used his speed to win at 1 1/4 miles. The field of only five leaves it as a watch race only.
