Zenyatta John's 2013 Kentucky Derby Dozen #4

Alright,

With two weeks worth of races to digest, we have a lot of movement on the Derby Dozen. I have five new horses debuting this week as there have been many impressive races in that time period. Due to inactivity or injury horses have fallen off the list and replaced by some very nice runners with more recent action.

So here we go - ZJ's Derby Dozen #4

1. NORMANDY INVASION - still #1 as he is training very well and is reported that they can't keep him on the ground. Looking forward to his first start back.

2. VIOLENCE - this big lumbering colt is back to work and anticipating a powerful return soon.

3. REVOLUTIONARY - (new) - this son of Champion War Pass and 10 furlong Grade 1 Alabama winner Runup the Colors ran a hole in the wind breaking his maiden first time around two turns and returned Saturday to win the Withers under terrible conditions. He broke slow, was shuffled back to last, ran up onto horses heels mid-far turn, then had to weave his way through traffic in the stretch to win while galloping out powerfully. Very impressive colt.

4. ITSMYLUCKYDAY - (new) - has won two straight having dusted Shanghai Bobby in his last. The son of Lawyer Ron has won at three different tracks and will be a force when he returns in the Florida Derby.

5. TIZ THE TRUTH - (new) - The son of Tiznow only broke his maiden Saturday 2/2 which is a big negative trying to get to the Derby but I was totally impressed with the race. Going around two turns, he settled into a rhythmic stride and drew off powerfully in the lane. He will make his presence known soon in California preps.

6. FLASHBACK - this gorgeous son of Tapit and full brother to Zazu ran away and hid from three rivals to earn 10 points on his Derby trail. Baffert said he has been babying this colt, never testing or stressing him in the mornings so he could take a few giant steps forward in the next few races.

7. OXBOW - showed he's the real deal in Oaklawn, looking forward to his next race.

8. OVERANALYZE - training in Florida with the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct his targeted comeback.

9. VERRAZANO - (new) - blew away an allowance field at Gulfstream, but don't see a son of More Than Ready a major threat to win at 10 furlongs the first Saturday in May. The balloon will burst.

10. BOLD DANCE - finished 2nd in a grass allowance race, still looking for him to test the waters on dirt soon to see if the full brother to HOY Saint Liam has some dirt ability.

11. ALWAYS IN A TIZ - (new) - son of Tiznow endured a tough trip in his stakes debut at Oaklawn coming up a neck short after a furious rally. Looking forward to see him develop with future races.

12. WILL TAKE CHARGE - (new) - this big beautiful son of Unbridled's Song out of champion Take Charge Lady was ultra impressive beating the horse above going six wide into the first turn, racing four wide the entire backside, then powering home for victory. He could be a horse to be reckoned with if he continues to develop.

There it is - Zenyatta John's 2013 Kentucky Derby Dozen #4
