Finally,
Without further ado, Opening Day at Saratoga Race Course is here. It's Christmas for every horse player looking to make a score and every Capital District resident addicted to adrenaline. The forty day racing season is open for business, but sadly it also means summer is almost over, and it's 'on the clock'.
I have been to every Opening Day since I can remember, at least 30 years running. My handicapping style excels at Saratoga where certain angles and statistics always prove their worth and the rewards come in wheel barrels full of money. This is my home track where my grandfather started taking me when I was only 9 years old. When I was younger, I would have groups of people following me around just too see who I was betting in the next race. Now, I sit with a select group of friends, at the same table, everyday. I get lost in the sea of anonymity that is 'the backyard' and let the world walk right bye. I started my website www.pick4win.com six years ago to share my selections for those looking for an edge in what is the toughest race meet in the world to cash tickets. I also started this blog at the same time to give out free selections and give some analysis on the race days event. This year, my blog has been linked to The Saratogian and The Troy Record for which I am thankful to Emily Donohue for helping spread the word of Hoof Prints and Horse Play and for giving her readers the chance to get a winning perspective from a hometown horse player looking to stuff cash in the pockets of everyone who reads it.
The city is bustling with tourists already promising to be a banner meet. Let's get this party started.
Friday's Free Pick ~
Saratoga race 7 - #1 Lanett Lady ~ comes in fresh for Christophe Clement as she makes her 1st start in the USA. He excels at this move and fires at 32% win rate with horses starting in their 1st USA start. At Saratoga, Clement always has a horse or two that goes 1st USA and wins for fun, been doing it for years now. She also gets Lasix for the 1st time today. Her near bullet work at Oklahoma June 6th signaled her readiness. Lock and load, we're off in Day one.
The very best of luck!
