ZJ's Derby Dozen 2011 - Final Edition

The prep races are all in the books except for the Lexington , so earning are pretty well set and the field can be easily established now.

I've thrown out Uncle Mo completely. Never was the leader of his band wagon, but now that word is coming out that he had winter surgery and hasn't grown up or come back the same. I was so sick of the best horse to ever live talk about Uncle Mo. It reminds me of one horse in particular - Arazi. 

Arazi blew the doors off a horrible BC Juv field with P Val just hanging on for dear life. feet on the dash board and screaming for his life but this colt just ran away and hid from the field. Total freak, next coming of Pegasus.  After his off-season surgery, he was never the same. Ditto for Uncle Mo.

I really only have a Top 6 , but there are a few other I'll list who might blossom Derby week. That is actually the key - to find out which horse is blossoming and dappling out in those last 7 - 10 days prior to the big race while working over the Churchill Downs surface.

As stated - this is subject to change by Derby day, with final works and gallops to come in the next 20 days.

So here we go - the final ZJ Derby Dozen ~

1. MUCHO MACHO MAN - blazed two works since ripping shoe off in game LA Derby.

2. NEHRO - finished fast last two starts, seems to be putting it all together.

3. DIALED IN - just don't think that 10th furlong will be his friend.

4. TOBY'S CORNER - on my list for months, added blinks and exploded late to win Wood.

5. ARCHARCHARCH - hard knocker runs turns very well.

6. PANTS ON FIRE  -Rosie gets to ride the Derby.

7. MIDNIGHT INTERLUDE - may hit board, no chance to win without 2 yr old start.

8. SHACKLEFORD - blossoming at right time, might be the one to set 6 furlong time in Derby.


That's really it , I don't think there are any other horses at this point with earnings pretty much set , that have any chance of winning on May 7th. Unless the clockers completely rave about another Derby starter during the last 10 days, the winner, exacta, and trifecta are all above within those 8 horses.
