Well~
Some shaking and baking after this weeks round of Derby preps. I was in awe of Premier Pegasus as he blew the doors of the San Felipe field. He will debut on the list this week. Also debuting this week is Sway Away- a son of Afleet Alex who Mr Bonde is over the moon about.
I dropped two like they were hot - but they are going in the wrong direction. Brethren after weakening against a $16,000 claimer who won the Tampa bay Derby - he's out. Just not even close to being fast enough. Also dropped was Runflatout as he was eased in the San Felipe along with his speed burner partner who went 21 & 44 for the early fractions and stopped like they were shot.
So here we go - ZJ's Derby Dozen #10
1. JAYCITO - make a good move from 20 lengths back to get second in San Felipe, gets blinks back on for SA Derby.
2. TO HONOR AND SERVE - Mr Mott reported he's filled out and put on weight - gotta love as 3rd olds blossom right before your eyes.
3. MUCHO MACHO MAN - now that The Village People are on board the fan clubs all set - should win Louisiana Derby for fun.
4. SOLDAT - back to back wins at 9 furlongs , has the bottom and the speed to be very dangerous.
5. PREMIER PEGASUS - (new) - ultra impressive move to blow doors off San Felipe. Son of FuPeg.
6. UNCLE MO - yes , he'll probably win the Wood , but will need a cab to get 10 furlongs.
7. DIALED IN - don't know if two turns is what he wants , Florida Derby will tell more.
8. BREAK UP THE GAME - broke maiden in last - will excel at two turns. Hope to see him in stakes next.
9. SWAY AWAY - (new) - son of Afleet Alex goes two turns in Rebel.
10. ELITE ALEX - hope Crazy Calvin is right that he's the next Street Sense. He also needs to save some ground!
11. SANTIVA - impressed with return race, we'll see if he improves for Mr Kennelly.
12. ROGUE ROMANCE - a foot bruise has dropped him on my list, one blip and the Derby's gone.
13. BANDBOX - worked 1:11 other day after losing by a nose in sharp return.
14. TOBY'S CORNER - strapping son of Bellemy Road is off the the Illinois Derby.
That's it - ZJ Derby Dozen #10. We're only 7 weeks from the Derby. It's put up or shut up time for the horses and trainers.

ZJ-Perfect prep for Jaycito. Baff will have him cranked next out. Begging for a 1 1/4!!!!
I agree Pola - he was way back - 20 plus lengths, and still made up ground to finish 2nd while only 70 percent cranked up.
Looking forward to his next start!
