Look out !!
The list was blown to pieces after not being updated for a few weeks. I have dropped some 'pretenders' that just haven't got their stuff together yet. They probably will make wonderful second half of the year colts, but they had to go .
After having the same top 2 horses since DDD #1 - we have a new #1 this week , and he hasn't started yet this year! How bout that! My man Bullet Bob Baffert has taken over with my #1 prospect - Jaycito. His training has been electric the last few works including in his last when he started 12 lengths behind Awesome Patriot - and blew his doors off down the lane. This is a serious race horse bred to run all day out of Victory Gallop. His BC Juvenile is a toss out since he broke some teeth and the bit pressure on those broken teeth cause him to bear out, not anything to do with unsoundness. Baffert is hammering on this colt in his training, and the colts responding. He's my new Big Boy.
So here you go - ZJ's Derby Dozen #9 -
1. Jaycito - a freight train ready for explosion in the San Felipe on 3/12.
2. To Honor and Serve - will get ton out of that race, which is called a 'prep'.
3. Mucho Macho Man - will run all day, loved last when returned to two turns.
4. Rogue Romance - doesn't have the exploding closing kick on dirt like on turf.
5. Uncle Mo - the Timely Writer? are you kidding boys?
6. Soldat - is a very nice colt on way to Florida Derby.
7. Dialed In - needs more seasoning, might be best of them all by Travers.
8. Break Up The Game - is behind now, but if he put two good one together, maybe?
9. Awesome Patriot - (new) - Jaycito's workmate.
10. Brethren - Toad Pletchers 'other' colt - the WinStar colt.
11. Elite Alex - still think he may turn the 'bulb' on in the next few races.
12. Toby's Corner - (new) - The Gotham will tell more.
13. Santiva - (new) - impressed with comeback, not with 8 wide journey from Mike Smith.
14. Bandbox - just lost 7 furlong comeback by a nose, will ship for two turns next.
15. Runflatout - is training light out, finishing very strong , might be this good.
16. Machen - Mr Howard will get him ready for next, building blocks.
That's it - the new Derby Dozen with a brand new #1 ....
Enjoy!

ZJ-SHHHH!!!! We want great odds on Derby day!!! LOL!!!
I haven't said much in terms of the KD picture, but we have the same #1 horse. Baffert holds all the pieces to this somewhat muddled puzzle.
This KD is begging for an off the pace, mid pack, type that can run all of this, what appears to be, early speed down!
I cannot wait for his debut in the San Felipe!
I mean really. Uncle Mo is so far ahead of this bunch it may become boring to watch one more Derby prospect get smashed. He needs to stay healthy. I don't want to see another best talent as Eskendereya never get a chance.
Gary
sshhhh Alternation.
