ZJ's Derby Dozen #6 ~ (2/22)

Well,

Slight changes to the Derby Dozen this week as two horses were dropped.

Drefong due to inactivity and Airoforce who was eased in the Risen Star and has been taken off the Trail by his connections.

The Risen Star proved a very useful seasonal debut for Gun Runner, whom I've always held in high regard. He got tired as expected but gutted out a nice victory to start his season. He should improve leaps and bounds with a race under his belt.

This weekends Fountain of Youth stakes is highly anticipated as it matches up a bunch a serious colts with ambitions to move forward. They are all trying to knock of the public's current champ, Mohaymen, but it very well could be the right time to do so. The race will feature some serious speed plus a serious closer and I really can't wait for it to unfold.

10 Mor Spirit - Baffert best hope, from that live KY race last fall
9. Gun Runner - nice winning return, will move forward
8. Conquest Big E - Casse's last Derby hopeful needs to step up
7. Shagaf - other Godolphin runner heading to the Gotham in NY
6. Suddenbreakingnews - exploded on the scene with big win last
5. Cherry Wine - looking for big race in Fountain of Youth
4. Nyquist - nice return at 7 furlongs, 10 furlongs the question
3. Brody's Cause - a picture of health heading to Tampa Bay Derby
2. Mohaymen - everyone's big horse, 10 furlongs still the question
1. Exaggerator - very nice return in sprint, onward and upward

I'll likely have to make adjustments next week, and honestly am looking forward to a new #1, but certainly not the horse you're thinking about now.
